In preparation for my first lobby pin-up I decided to create some watercolor paintings depicting my idea of the stacked caramel double helix sculptures.

I painted this elevation and perspective view in an attempt to get a glimpse of how the stacked pieces would look with a transparent material as all of my models were done with foam board.

I also painted this top-down view of a different stacked caramel sculpture in orange water color paint.

In addition to making these paintings I made some first attempts to stack and connect caramel sheets together in an ascending gradient, from dark blue-green to a lighter and more translucent color. However the "glue" I was using (consisting of melted caramelized sugar) wasn't strong enough to support the weight of the pieces stacked on top of each other and I wasn't able to build it much taller than five or six pieces.

It seemed like I would need to find another glue that was strong enough to support the caramel and/or make the pieces much thinner so as to put less weight on the connection.
