Site Constraints:

Their backyard was part of a tidal flood plane that semi-regularly experiences brackish water flooding up to the pool base. We also were dealing with a sloping hill where they wanted more space for entertainment.

Client Wants:

This client wanted a dog friendly paradise that burst with flowering plants and more space for entertaining guests. They needed a good way to ensure water drained away from the house as the previous grading left pockets of pooling water. They also love wildlife and wanted plantings that would support and attract local birds and bees.

Design Solutions:

To channel the necessary water down the hill we created two functional dry river swales that can carry water down the garden in times of extreme water flow. We also implemented a small retaining wall under the patio to built it up and avoid having to follow the steep grade of the hill.
